If you enjoy the pinkish hues and highlights in the Shivakashi, then go for it! The stone is light enough to offset the dark island beautifully while providing a nice complement to the perimeter cabinetry.

i picked antique white cabinets and for the island a brown/black cabinets would shiva kashi be a good match....it has a lot of pink in the background of the granite.

There are many great porcelain tile options to choose from. I'd use a rustic, deep brown color shade for the tile to offset the lighter elements of the design so far. I recommend Mohawk Terrebella Moss-Russet Porcelain tile or American Olean Kendall Slate in Carlisle Black. I've attached photos for your reference. Good luck!

Well, let's start with a coordinating backsplash. I recommend a warm tumbled natural tile, such as travertine or marble. Medditerranean Ivory travertine or Crema Marfil marble could be appropriate. For a more interesting option you can use a mosaic such as Capadoccia Glass & tumbled stone mix. In regard to wall paint, try Benjamin Moore line Barely Beige or Linen White. For flooring, as you leaning toward a hardwood floor or tiles?

I have honey maple cabinets, Shivakashi granite counters (that is more beige than pink) and not a lot of natural light. Can you recommend flooring, backsplash, and paint?

03:48PM, Jan 10 2012 You should look at both granite options in-person in slab form and make the final decision this way. Also bringing samples home of the choices to put against your cabinets in the kitchen light would be quite helpful. I also feel that the Shivakashi Pink could be the more appropriate choice for your galley design. Good luck!

01:13PM, Jan 9 2012 I’m leaning toward the Shivakashi Pink for your setup as the stone is rich, warm and inviting. Since the stone is somewhat busy, I would recommend using a mix of glass and natural stone like the Fidenza Stone Glass to tie the space together without overwhelming the room. Let me know what you think!
  • Gwen 11:40AM, Jan 9 2012 I am remodeling my galley kitchen and want to know if I should use shivakashi gold or shivakashi pink for my kitchen countertop.I only have windows at both ends of the kitchen and cupboards on both sides of the galley. The cabinets are a royal birch color with stainless steel appliances and I need something to add warmth and brighten up the kitchen. Was thinking of using glass for the wall between the cabinets and the backsplash, but don't know which color to use.

12:01PM, Sep 26 2011 I feel the Shivakashi Pink is an excellent choice for your setup. It’s a warm stone that will pull your kitchen together. I feel it’s a much better choice for your space than the Dakota Mahogany.

12:55PM, Sep 22 2011 I'm leaning towards Shivakashi Pink because this stone is lighter and warmer for an excellent contrast to offset the cherry cabinetry. This will create an elegant and timeless atmosphere for the kitchen as a whole. I've created a Comparison Table for your reference: http://www.Marmidicarrara.com
  • Jimt2008 12:23AM, Sep 22 2011 i am doing a new kitchen , the cabinets are a med color cherry, i was looking at american dakota mahogany or shivakashi pink. the floor tile is a slate look mix of light gray white and tan. • Rita 09:38PM, Aug 5 2011 Hi Derek,   Thank you for your helpful suggestions.   I am going to have the walls painted "Chatsworth Cream" .  I  will paint the cabinets one of the colors that you  or  Kinga have suggested.   So busy with the rennovations that I didn't make that decision yet.     Both of your suggestions are great,  thanks for pointing me in the right direction.   Rita

03:26PM, Jul 25 2011 I agree with Kinga's suggestions to keep the paint color of the cabinetry light and bright. My recommendations are Benjamin Moore "White Dove" and "Mayonnaise". For wall color, I'm all for the "Chatsworth Cream", that's a perfect tone for your design. Good luck and let us know what you end up choosing!

09:28PM, Jul 22 2011 Take a look at “White Blush”, “Icicle” and “Seabring White” for your cabinet color and “Chatsworth Cream” and “Fresh Air” for your walls. Since your granite and floor are on the busy side, you want to offset the setup with neutral walls and light cabinets to create a nice contrast and balance.
  • Rita 03:15PM, Jul 22 2011 I  have mauve ceramic tile floors,  ordered the Shivikashi granite for the counters,   loved that the granite has movement and will also go well with the new stainless steel appliances and will not clash with the floors.  .   Any suggestions of a good color of off- white paint for the kitchen cabinets.  Any suggestions for the paint color for the walls ?.
  • Mala 10:32PM, Apr 7 2011 please advise me on what color grout to use with the shivakashi pink floor tile
  • mala 05:05PM, Apr 6 2011 Iam having black galaxy counter tops and shivakashi pink floor tiles and maple cabinets with cognac color stain. Can you suggest a grout color and backsplash for me
  • Lynn 01:32PM, Mar 13 2011 I've purchased light cherry shaker style cabinets with brushed nickel hardware and brushed stainless faucet. I've chosen the Shivikashi granite because of the cream with burgundy highlights. However, I have an L-shaped counter with about a 20 degree angled peninsula where my sink is. My fabricator is planning to do this in 5 pieces-each side of my range, large corner cabinet(full lazy suz), straight counter run, and finally the sink peninsula. I'm concerned with how the flow of this granite will work changing angles and the appearance of the seams. Would it be better to choose a granite with a more all-over pattern?
  • Lamia 08:39AM, Mar 10 2011 Just to add to add to the previous email the floor is pernoda golden colour

  • Dolores 03:08PM, Feb 11 2011 I'm remodeling my kitchen, I chose cherry lacerise cabinets and pink shivakashi granite...What paint color and backslash would you recommend.
  • Miranda 12:51PM, Feb 6 2011 Love the look of shivakashi. I have a counter of approximate. 57" length, that will be seamed with an l-shaped counter that is 72" in length. Will there be too much movement having a vertical slab 57") butting up to a horizontal slab (72").
  • Dolores Zrepskey 09:48PM, Jan 14 2011 I have just started looking at granite countertops. I saw Vyara Gold at the showroom and went to the warehouse and they said it is now Shivakashi Pink. I see on your site they are both listed. Is there a difference. Are they tellng me the truth?
  • Bianca 02:33PM, Dec 20 2010 We are using the Shivakashi granite for a hall bathroom, with grey maple Decora cabinets. I chose a slab that has more of the cream and grey and less of the burgandy streaks. Would you recommend silver hardward (chrome or nickel) or a oil-rubbed bronze? Or would either one look all right?
  • Urmi Chatterjee 11:10PM, Nov 16 2010 Thank you for the reply! What color tiles would you recommend for the floor? Thanks again for all your help!
  • Urmi 10:49PM, Nov 15 2010 Hi, I have ordered russet colored cabinets with mocha glaze in alder. We have beige colored walls and black appliances. Will the Shivakashi Pink be a good choice for the countertop? We have a small L-shaped kitchen. Also, any advice on the backsplash and floor color would be much appreciated. I'm considering tiles for both.
  • Russell 10:24AM, Nov 7 2010 Hi! if i'm going with the Shivakashi Pink for the countertop, what 2-3 colors would be a tasteful color combination for the walls and cabinets in a sunny kitchen? Thank you for your advice. Your comments are very helpful. Russell

  • Eileen 05:22AM, May 19 2010 Is this the same granite as Shivikashi Peach? I will be installing natural cherry cabinets with a java glaze along with a center island that will be painted cream color with the same darker glaze. All will have the same granite countertops. I don't want a granite that will look too busy because there will be a lot of it!

  • Barb 06:20PM, Apr 28 2010 We have chosen Maple Mocha cabinets...Will the Shivashi be enough contrast?
  • Madelinhe 05:54PM, Mar 8 2010 Thanks for your prompt response. I realize there would not be a lot of contrast. I actually was thinking of paint to do that. I have a smooth top wall and smooth barnboard on the bottom separated by moulding. I was thinking of painting either the top of bottom a deep russet/burgundy to bring out that color in the granite and a taupe of pale sand color on the other, with the moulding the same color as one or the other. What do you think of that?
  • Madeline 02:52PM, Mar 6 2010 I have medium oak cabinets and am thinking of getting Shivakashi countertops with a granite sink in either dark brown or dark gray with co-ordinating faucet. Any thoughts on this? Thanks
  • Tony 04:49PM, Nov 17 2009 Is shivakaski the same as ivory brown and do they come from the same mine or area.
  • Brenda 08:23PM, Jun 21 2009 I am getting Cherry Shaker style stained a darker Pecan color/ oak floors but my kitchen looks across to a pink/gray quartz / granite fireplace. Love the highlights in the shiva kashi but am afraid it would clash with so much pink and gray stone. Any ideas?

  • Robert 07:58PM, Oct 6 2007 OK,I went to your yard, what do you think of GoldenRiviera 189 compared to ShivakashiPink with Cherry wood/Cabernet stain cabinets? I have GoldenOak floors in the next room and the GoldenRiviera seems to have both the burgundy spots and some golden color but could the background be too light with these cabinets? Is there such a thing as too light?
